The invention of rubber led to the creation of rubberized soccer balls in 1855. When FIFA formed they standardized the type of soccer ball that was to be used in regulation play. We now use lighter inflatable soccer balls that won’t knock a player unconscious when heading. Soccer shows no signs of slowing down and is becoming increasingly more popular around the world.
